Family Law Overview

White Plains Family Law and Divorce Lawyer

Lauren B. Abramson, Esq.

I work diligently to help families arrive at resolutions to their family law problems that will last into the future and help them move forward with their lives. With over 20 years of experience practicing exclusively in the field of family law, as well as holding an M.A. in social work, I have the legal knowledge, insight, and compassion to effectively guide my clients through this challenging period.

Family law: My practice is focused exclusively on family law matters, such as divorce, parenting, child and spousal support, property issues, child abuse and neglect, and special needs children.

Contested and Uncontested Divorce: I help guide clients through the divorce process as expeditiously as possible, addressing all issues related to divorce, including custody, property, and support issues. An uncontested divorce is where both parties are able to reach an agreement with one another without involving the court. In a contested divorce, the parties cannot agree on some or all of the issues. A strong advocate may be needed to litigate the disputed issues.

Child Custody and Visitation: I help parents find parenting time agreements that meet their needs and the needs of their children.

Collaborative Law / Mediation child Support: I provide legal counsel to individuals through the collaborative law process, as well as mediation, helping them find amicable resolutions to their family law problems without the need for timely, costly litigation.

Child Support: I help clients identify the current and long term needs of their children and develop a child support agreement that meets those needs.

Child Abuse and Neglect: I have experience handling both sides of child abuse and neglect cases involving sexual abuse, physical abuse, and emotional abuse.

Support and Maintenance: I represent the interests of my clients in developing spousal support and spousal maintenance agreements that are appropriate for their unique situations.

Separation Agreements: I help clients prepare separation agreements to protect their financial interests when considering a divorce.

Special needs Trusts: I help clients plan for the long term needs of their children with special needs when developing parenting and child support agreements.

If you are contemplating divorce, it is important to be educated about the process ahead of you. Understand your options and the potential consequences of your choice by consulting with me in a confidential meeting regarding your specific situation. My experience provides me with a unique understanding of the many complex issues that may arise in the course of a divorce or parenting dispute. I will provide you with honest, straightforward legal counsel to help you navigate the path ahead.
